Top Ten Series I'd Like To Start But Haven't Yet
1. The Percy Jackson books by Rick Riordan
The kids at school love those and I haven't read any yet.
2. The Ballentyne Legacy series by Laura Frantz
The first book came out last fall. And the next will come out later this year.
3. Space Trilogy by C.S. Lewis
Book #1: Out of the Silent Planet
Book #2: Perelandra
Book #3: That Hideous Strength
4. The Queen's Thief by Megan Turner
An author whose work I love, Anne Elisabeth Stengl, recommended this series on her blog quite a while ago. didn't realize there were four books until I looked it up just now.
Book #1: The Thief
Book #2: The Queen of Attolia
Book #3: The King of Attolia
Book #4: A Conspiracy of Kings
5. Muirwood by Jeff Wheeler
I got the ebooks for free a year ago and still haven't read them.
Book #1: The Wretched of Muirwood
Book #2: The Blight of Muirwood
Book #3: The Scourge of Muirwood
6. Brotherband Chronicles by John Flanagan
I did start the Ranger's Apprentice that several boys at school love and Brotherband is a companion series.
Book #1: The Outcasts
Book #2: The Invaders
Book #3: The Hunters
7. DragonKeeper Chronicles by Donita K. Paul
Dragons make for great fantasy tales!
Book #1: DragonSpell
Book #2: DragonQuest
Book #3: DragonKnight
Book #4: DragonFire
Book #5: DragonLight
8. Inkworld by Cornelia Funke
I think I've listed the first book as being on my TBR list on this blog. I've seen parts of the movie and the fact that this was first written in German makes me want to read them more.
Book #1: Inkheart
Book #2: Inkspell
Book #3: Inkdeath
9. Avenue of Dreams series by Olivia Newport
This sounds like a great series in the late 1890s America, plus the covers are captivating.
Book #1: The Pursuit of Lucy Banning
Book #2: The Dilemma of Charlotte Farrow
Book #3: The Invention of Sarah Cummings (not released yet)

I love that there are a few books listed that I have in common with you :) I only read the first percy jackson book and I do think you'll enjoy it. The theme of friendship is really strong and Percy has a great heart, I tried reading the rest of the series but the sequel wasn't for me.
ReplyDeleteAlso loved Inkheart, kind of like the neverending story but with more action, but again i didn't read the entire series :) Would love to read your comments when you finish it!
Have not heard of The Queen's Thief, but will look into that one.
The series of books I've started or plan to start soon are The River of Time by Lisa Bergren, The Daughters of Boston by Julie Lessman, Phantom Island series by Krissi Dallas, the Discarded Heroes by Ronie Kendig and Books of the Infinite by R.J. Larson. Most of these I have in print already and my goal is to cover them and more this year.
Praying all is well with you Rina, love reading your blog :) Hugs and blessings to you!
Some of the series you mentioned almost made my list! I have started Ronie Kendig's first book so I didn't include it, it's good thus far. Thank you for reminding me about River of Time! Looking forward to your review of Julie Lessman's series.
DeleteThank you so much for your prayers and encouragement! You are a blessing.
Love's Reckoning was great! I want to read the Avenue of Dreams series as well, they look really good and I have heard great things about them! I read the first two of the Dragon Keeper Chronicles when they first came out (yikes just did the math and that was when I was like 10!) I enjoyed the first one but had to make myself finish the second since at that point I realized I wasn't a big fantasy fan. However my oldest and youngest sisters both liked them so I'm sure you will too!
ReplyDeleteHow funny. A student returned book two of Dragon Keeper Chronicles today and I asked her if she liked the series, she said she really liked the first one but got stuck in the second and didn't finish it. Now I'm curious!
DeleteI really want to start on Inkworld. Hopefully soon ;) Great list! :D
ReplyDeleteHere's my Top 10
Thanks for visiting! You've got a neat list! So many books to read! Not enough time! :-)
DeleteI absolutely love Percy Jackson and I'm sure you will, too! :) Inkworld is also on my TBR. The other books on your list looks great, too. :)
ReplyDeleteHere's mine
Julie
Thanks Julie! I'm sure I will enjoy those! Just have to get around to them...so many books to read! :-)
DeleteLove's Reckoning was awesome, but it is different than Laura's first three novels.
ReplyDeleteGood to know. Thanks Carissa! Maybe I'll wait for the whole series to be out so I'm not left hanging.
DeleteA Laura Frantz book is always a great read. :)
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm curious about the "Space Trilogy" and "The Queen's Thief" series, as well! I took a class on C.S. Lewis and enjoy his work, and if Anne Elisabeth Stengl recommends something, it's bound to be good, right? :)
~Amber
Hi Amber! I'm surprised you didn't have to read one or all of the Space Trilogy for the class. But then, he did write a lot. And yep, if Anne Elisabeth likes a book it's sure to be good. :-)
DeleteI cant believe you haveny read Percy yet! You should go read that series as soon as possible, because it kicks ass :)
ReplyDeleteTop 10 Tuesdays
Yeah I can't believe I haven't read them yet either! But there are so many books out there! I will get around to them sometime soon though. :-)
DeleteYou have reminded me that I really need to finish the Inkheart trilogy. I've still only read book one. Oops!
ReplyDeleteGlad I could remind you! :-) Thanks for stopping by!
DeleteOoh, some of my favorites are on this list! It took me half the first book to get into Percy Jackson, but I loved them after that. Hilarious. Inkheart is awesome--the second two are a little structurally odd, but there's so much suspense that I stayed up most of a night reading Inkdeath. And the Space Trilogy is won.der.ful. That Hideous Strength rivals Speaker for the Dead (sequel to Ender's Game) for my favorite SF novel EVER. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteJust this weekend I started reading the Percy Jackson stories, they're good tales and quite clever. Thanks for the recommendations, glad to know there are some great stories awaiting me on my TBR. :-)
DeleteLove your list, Rina! I'm particularly intrigued to read the Avenue of Dreams series by Olivia Newport because of the beautiful cover art and the setting. Regrettably, my spring TBR is full; so, it must wait. But, I can't wait to read your review!
ReplyDeleteThanks Eszter! They do have beautiful covers don't they? My TBR list is rather full to but hopefully I'll get a chance to read those sometime soonish...
DeleteOh, the Queen's Thief series! I love those!!! They are simply incredible.
ReplyDeleteThanks Hannah! I think I'll be checking out the first book from the library this week! If I get all the reviews written for the books I've read over spring break...
