Monthly Reflections 6/2012

Photobucket
How I fared with my June goals:
☑ Write at least four book reviews of which one is for Blogging for Books and one for Netgalley
(except that I reviewed it in July...)
☑ Finish that B4B book that I've been dragging my feet on
(finished and reviewed it!)
☑ Read two books for the 2014 Winter Olympic Challenge
(Enna's Burning takes place in a fictionalized southern Germany so it kinda counts for the challenge; The Duke Promise takes place in France and Switzerland)
Read two non-fiction books
(I was reading two but didn't finish them in June)

News:
July is going to be another crazy month. In case you missed the news last month, I got a job! In Africa! As a school librarian! And I leave at the end of this month. So I'm rather busy getting ready for that and saying goodbyes. My sincere apologies that this blog will be not be updated as frequently or consistently as in the past.

Books I read:

My reviews:
My Stubborn Heart by Becky Wade
Five Point Someone by Chetan Bhagat
The Daughter's Walk by Jane Kirkpatrick
An Unlikely Suitor by Nancy Moser

Memes and other posts:
Several great giveaways
Top Ten Characters I'd like to Meet
Footprints Prayer
Top Ten Summer TBR List (of which I've read half and started three)
Top Ten Beach Reads
Top Ten Favorite Book Settings
Update #1 on Reading Challenges

My July goals:
Finish reading all the books I'm currently reading
2 B4B reviews
2 NetGalley reviews
3 non-fiction
10 posts written and scheduled for this month and August

Your turn:
What are your goals for July? What did you accomplish in June?

How I fared on my April goals:
Out of my six goals I completed 3 and a half. I joined Pinterest, created a Facebook page for this blog, updated the look (see that lovely image up top?), had a successful blog hop, and partially accomplished my reviewing goals. And had 15 posts. But I didn't do so great on the reading side of things...

Books I read:
Yeah, I didn't get a whole lot read this month. (Covers her eyes in shame.) But I did start three books and am almost done one of them.

My Reviews:
Blue Moon Promise by Colleen Coble
Maire by Linda Windsor
Red Siren by M.L. Tyndall
Enchanted Castle by E. Nesbit
Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
Strawberry Girl by Lois Lensky

Memes and other posts:
Three posts about free ebooks on Amazon
Top Ten Favorite Characters

Interview:
My first author interview ever: Anne Elisabeth Stengl (giveaway is over, sorry)

My May goals:
Review two books for NetGalley and two for Blogging for Books
Review at least half of the books I read and maybe get some written that I haven’t gotten to yet? (That didn’t work out so great in March or April, maybe May…)
Read 4 non-fiction books

Monthly Reflections - 3/2012

How I fared on my March goals:
  • Join Net Galley and some other review programs
    • Check! I joined NetGalley and reviewed one book (see below)
  • Read at least 13 books
    • Check! I read 16 books
  • Review a majority of the books I read, plus a few that I haven't gotten to yet
    • Fail, well I read 16 books and only reviewed 6. So...if I remember my math lessons right, I failed at reviewing a majority and I didn't get to any others done either.
    • But looking at the bright side, I did join up twice with the Top Ten Tuesday meme and I shared about some great giveaways and freebies on Amazon for a total of 14 posts
  • Write some more reviews for Multnomah/Blogging for Books
    • Check! I read and reviewed two books (see below)
  • Join some more reading challenges
    • Check! Read my post HERE about all the challenges I joined
  • Update the look of my blog with help from my friend Nate over at travelerdesign.com
    • In progress, he’s working on it, I should probably ask him how it’s coming…
My Reviews:

My April goals:

  • Review some more books for NetGalley
  • Review at least half of the books I read and maybe get some written that I haven’t gotten to yet? (That didn’t work out so great in March, but maybe April…)
  • Join either Pinterest or Twitter (because of Klout and Blogging for Books) and figure out how to use them in connection to blogging
  • Finish the process of updating the look of my blog
  • Have a successful blog hop (Fairytale Giveaway Hop takes place at the end of the month!)
  • Read 5 non-fiction books

Monthly Reflections - 2/2012

At the beginning of February I wrote a post summing up January's book reviews. This is not a new concept in the blogging world and since then I've discovered Christian Bookshelf Reviews who started Monthly Reflections - a post dedicated to what you accomplished in the prior month and what you hope to accomplish in the coming month.

I reviewed a lot more books in February than I realized! Only 7 in January, but got to 11 in February. And I had 3 posts about free books or giveaways happening elsewhere. I read 12 books. Joined the 2012 Reading Challenge - I'm hoping to read at least 99 books this year. Thus far, I've read 17 according to Goodreads. I also signed up for the Fairytale Giveaway Hop which will take place end of April.

My reviews:
Books I read:

Seeking Persephone
Gods and Kings
Cassidy
Sabrina
Princess of the Midnight Ball
Wagered Heart
The Amaranth Enchantment
Princess of Glass
Forever After
The Inconvenient Marriage of Charlotte Beck: A Novel
Wonderland Creek
Tuesdays at the Castle

In March I hope to:
  • Join Net Galley and some other review programs
  • Read at least 13 books
  • Review a majority of the books I read, plus a few that I haven't gotten to yet
  • Write some more reviews for Multnomah/Blogging for Books
  • Join some more reading challenges
  • Update the look of my blog with help from my friend Nate over at travelerdesign.com
